Advancing Clean Transportation Across Iowa
The Iowa Clean Cities Coalition is a U.S. Department of Energy-designated coalition in the Clean Cities and Communities partnership. Hosted by the Mid‑Iowa Planning Alliance (MIPA), the Coalition works with public‑ and private‑sector partners to advance affordable, reliable, and secure transportation energy choices across Iowa. By delivering objective technical expertise and fostering locally driven solutions, the Iowa Clean Cities Coalition reduces petroleum use, improves air quality, and supports economic development. The Coalition consists of convenience stores, colleges and universities, industry representatives, local governments, private fleets, state agencies and utilities.
About Clean Cities and Communities
Clean Cities and Communities is a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) partnership that fosters collaboration and innovation to advance transportation energy choices nationwide. More than 75 DOE-designated Clean Cities and Communities coalitions work in urban, suburban, and rural areas to deliver objective technical expertise based on a unique understanding of local markets. As partners with DOE’s Transportation Technologies Office, coalitions build bridges between national priorities and local needs to create transportation energy systems that are affordable, reliable, and secure. DOE established the partnership in 1993 with 6 coalitions, and now the partnership includes nearly 20,000 stakeholders and collectively covers 93% of the U.S. population. Together, coalitions create compounding impacts nationwide that support locally driven energy choices and benefit regional economic development and job growth.
Mission: To enhance the nation’s energy security, support economic prosperity, and improve air quality by fostering locally driven transportation energy choices that leverage domestic energy resources and innovative mobility technologies through collaborative partnerships with public and private stakeholders.
Vision: To create an affordable, reliable, and secure transportation energy future.
